Grants.gov Information http://www.grants.gov/

General Overview

As you may have heard recently, the federal government has developed a government wide electronic submission system.  This system is called Grants.gov.  The University of Oklahoma - Norman Campus is already registered and set up as an institution in the Grants.gov system.  No additional registration in Grants.gov by PIs or Departmental Administrators is necessary to submit proposals to any of the participating agencies.

Because this is a new system, there are occasional glitches.  It is important to start the submission process as early as possible to ensure that all file components are completed and free from errors.  As is the case with NSF Fastlane, the Office of Research Services is responsible for submitting the final proposal package in the Grants.gov system.  If the file is not received by ORS early enough for a thorough review by your Proposal Development Specialist (PDS), we cannot ensure the accuracy of all of the file components before submission.  For NIH submissions, the process allows for notification of the ORS if fatal errors are found and allows the PI and/or ORS to correct the fatal errors and then resubmit.  However, if the proposal is submitted on or near the due date, and the corrected version is submitted after the due date, it will be deemed a late submission.  Therefore, we recommend that ORS receive the completed PureEdge file as early as possible but at a minimum of 72 hours before the submission due date.  If errors are found, this time frame should allow for corrections before submission.
