Policies and Support Mechanisms for OU Participants
Economic Development Generating Excellence (EDGE)
Program 2009 Competition

Norman, Tulsa, and Health Science Center Campuses

Support Provided to Principal Investigators by the Norman and HSC Campus Offices of the Vice President for Research, and the Office of the University Vice President for Technology Development

A number of mechanisms will be used to support OU EDGE principal investigators, including:

  • Workshops and brainstorming sessions to provide a deeper understanding of how EDGE proposals differ from grant proposals typically submitted by faculty with emphasis on business planning, economic development, risk mitigation, and potential impacts.

  • Email, one-on-one meetings, and phone calls to provide more personalized assistance on all aspects of the proposal including but not limited to conceptualization, balance and clarity, graphics, engagement of industry and other partners, business plan development, budget, sub-contracts, intellectual property, timelines/milestones,outcomes, risk assessment and mitigation, and outcomes and impacts.

  • Peer mock review panels to provide both written and oral (via debriefing sessions) feedback to PIs on both the written proposal as well as oral presentation.

Although PIs are not required to participate in these activities, they are strongly encouraged to do so as proposals submitted to the 2008 competition were found to benefit from them.
